Ideating the Future of Digital Exchange
Exploring Real-World Use Cases for Blockchain-Powered VPX Technology
The Challenge
Fujitsu Laboratories developed VPX (Virtual Private digital eXchange)—a decentralized, blockchain-based platform that enables secure peer-to-peer sharing of digital resources like data and microservices. Unlike traditional cloud systems, VPX allows organizations to retain control of their data while participating in distributed exchange networks.
To accelerate adoption and expand the utility of VPX, Fujitsu needed innovative, real-world use cases that would demonstrate its value across industries and user types.
The Solution
Fujitsu partnered with Topcoder to crowdsource creative, technically sound use case ideas for VPX. The global community was tasked with submitting unique service concepts that leveraged VPX features—such as smart contract-enforced access control, decentralized metadata sharing, and detailed audit trails.
Participants provided high-level architectures, functional flows, and concrete benefits for each idea, showcasing how VPX could power secure, scalable data and service exchanges without relying on third-party intermediaries.
